Abstract
BACKGROUND: Branchiogenic carcinoma is squamous cell carcinoma arising in a branchial cleft cyst. CASE: A 52-year-old woman presented with a painless mass over the right neck. She underwent complete excision, radical neck dissection, and chemoradiotherapy. The tumor was positive for p16 by immunohistochemistry and human papillomavirus type 16 by polymerase chain reaction. She was free of disease 6 months after operation. CONCLUSION: Branchiogenic carcinoma is rare, and a vigorous search for an unknown primary site is warranted to rule out cystic metastasis. © Science Printers and Publishers, Inc.
